What does BLKMKT take on orders?
A 14% platform fee plus standard payment processing on Apple Pay orders placed through the app. Customers pay no BLKMKT service fee, though delivery charges may apply. BLKMKT takes zero cut of anything you sell off-platform, on any tier. Listing is free and stays free.
How do payouts work?
After Stripe verifies your business and bank details, payouts follow your Stripe payout schedule. Arrival times and any Stripe payout fees are shown in your Stripe dashboard. Product and service publishing requires Verified+ or a higher paid plan.
How does verification work, and does it cost anything?
Verification is free. We review each application by hand and email you when there’s a decision; a working Instagram link or website speeds it up. Verified+ and above get priority review for verification and profile edits.
Who owns the photos and videos from Premium and Elite shoots?
BLKMKT owns the media we produce. You get a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use it anywhere (your website, your socials, your ads), even if you downgrade later.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Every tier is month-to-month. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime; if you cancel, you keep your plan through the period you’ve paid for, and downgrading keeps all of your historical data. Seasonal business? Email hello@blkmktplace.co and we’ll pause your paid tier while you’re closed. Your listing stays live on Free in the meantime.
Do paid tiers change how reviews work?
No. Reviews are identical on every tier. They can’t be bought, boosted, hidden, or removed by paying. Featured placement changes where you show up, never what customers say about you.
Is there a referral program?
Not yet. A merchant referral program with real rewards is on the roadmap. The fastest way to help another minority-owned business today is to send them to blkmkt.app/business: applying is free and every application is reviewed by hand.
